Veterinary assistants' salaries

The salaries of veterinary assistants in the countries studied are only significant if compared to the legal minimum wage. Due to widely differing costs of living from one country to another, relative value is more significant than absolute value. The chart below shows veterinary assistants' salaries as a percentage of the legal minimum wage.

On average, the minimum salary for veterinary assistants is above the legal minimum wage, but two different situations can be found.

Four countries would appear to recognise the qualifications of their staff in terms of salary paid. These are Finland, Hungary, Slovenia and Denmark.

Then, there are the countries which pay veterinary assistants salaries in the region of the legal minimum wage, which means that these countries do not recognise the qualifications of assistants in terms of salary paid. These are Spain, France, Romania, Slovakia and the United Kingdom.
